Psychosocial Healing Workshop at Zamzam Camp

Participants attending a trauma recovery and psychosocial support workshop at Zamzam Camp

🗓️ Project Date: July 27, 2024

📍 Location: Zamzam IDP Camp, Sudan

🧾 Overview:

On July 27, 2024, GlobalNetPD partnered with the Zamzam IDP Camp Initiative to deliver a one-day training titled “Psychosocial Support for War-Affected Persons.” The initiative responded to urgent emotional needs reported by our field volunteers and provided structured trauma care to 172 displaced individuals.

đź’ˇ Why It Matters:

For those who’ve endured the horrors of war and displacement, trauma leaves deep emotional scars. Yet psychosocial support is often under-resourced. This workshop was a lifeline—helping participants understand, express, and manage their trauma in a safe and respectful environment. By addressing mental health alongside physical needs, GlobalNetPD reaffirmed that dignity and emotional wellbeing are inseparable from humanitarian response.

🛠️ What We Did:

  • Delivered a trauma-informed workshop to 172 displaced men and women
  • Trained participants on coping tools, stress reduction, and peer support
  • Distributed food packs and basic medical care on-site
  • Provided awareness materials tailored to the camp’s realities
  • Facilitated open dialogue circles to build trust and connection

    🌱 The Impact:

The workshop sparked meaningful conversations, emotional release, and community bonding. Many participants described the event as the first time they felt truly heard since their displacement. Beyond one day of learning, the session created a ripple effect—empowering individuals to support each other and strengthen emotional resilience in their daily lives.
